Insight: Canada’s Economic Development Podcast

Our #WednesdayswithMDBInsight post this week announces the release of Episode 4 in our podcast series celebrating economic development in Canada. Today we released the fourth instalment of Insight: Canada’s Economic Development Podcast. In this episode, our podcast host, Natasha Gaudio Harrison, talks with several economic developers about all things Business Retention and Expansion (BR+E). Long a staple in economic development, BR+E efforts are particularly vital during this pandemic-related period of economic vulnerability. Guests include Jennifer Penny, Economic Development Officer, Town of Paradise, Rob Nolan, Director of Economic Development, City of Brockville and  Michelle Samson, Economic Development Officer, City of Vaughan, along with our own Chris Bandak, Executive Vice-President Market Research & Analysis and Paul Blais, Executive Vice-President.

Economic developers across the country have been scrambling to decipher what exactly we can do to help our businesses survive this crisis. But this pandemic won't last forever. To make sure our business communities come out strong on the other side, we need to do more than stay afloat. We need to steer the ship. This episode explores how economic developers' perspectives on BR+E have changed in response to COVID-19, with one common theme: it's now more important than ever.

We appreciate the insights offered by our guests and the time they took to speak with us about this important topic. And, as always, we look forward to your feedback. We appreciate the positive responses we’ve been getting about this podcast thus far, and hope this latest episode is equally well-received.
